Encyclopedia – John's D&D World https://blackblade.fatalshade.net Wed, 10 Aug 2022 22:46:36 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 Jack & Jill https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/encyclopedia/jack-jill/ Wed, 10 Aug 2022 22:46:36 +0000 https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/?post_type=encyclopedia&p=68 Jack & Jill the Otter twins are part of a large family of were-otters who live in Loupe Garou and helped a party of adventurers.  They like buckets, water, pastries and sweets of most kinds.  Their favorite food is fish however. Sweetened and tasty.  They guided the party to the Merry Dragon Inn and spent time with Devon Otterfoot.  Later on, after the party established themselves a fairly strong base of operations, the Otter Twins showed up there to stay as refugees during the war.  The party at that time included Devon Otterfoot, Sable, Miles Granger, Flipshiz, Brandt the Not-Sober, Pin, Dahli the puppy (Brandts good friend), Mathias, Melody, Laurence and many more.

Malaise, City of https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/encyclopedia/malaise-city-of/ Wed, 10 Aug 2022 22:36:42 +0000 https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/?post_type=encyclopedia&p=67 The City of Malaise was once a grand and powerful city, full of mages and magicks now lost to time itself.  One day a courier arrived from the Capitol City and met with the leaders of Malaise.  They gave to the leaders a task.  Find a way to destroy the Terois that threatened the land.  The Elves and Dwarves of the city met and discussed for many years, sending adventurers out to gather many components and ancient relics.  The Wizard Balmethis had taken charge of the research and once everything was gathered, begun his experiments.  Contact with other dimensional creatures was made and fel magics learned.  The first test of the plague he created was successful. it wiped out every single plant within a hundred miles of the city and twisted the smaller creatures into strange amalgamations of themselves, destroying anything even vaguely Terois in nature. Unfortunately it also weakened the city terribly and during the War of the Dark-blades, Malaise fell into ruin.  The city was ransacked and its occupants scattered to the four winds.  A curse lays upon the land now, one that corrupts absolutely anyone there.  The dwarves and elves that still inhabit the land hold on with a tenuous grasp and would deny the very corruption that is written upon their souls.  No gift from there is safe.

Karassalob the Spider Queen https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/encyclopedia/karassalob-the-spider-queen/ Wed, 10 Aug 2022 22:28:12 +0000 https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/?post_type=encyclopedia&p=66 Karassalob is one hell of a giant spider.  Her movements can shake the very ground under her.  She stands over 60′ tall and moves with great rapidity.  It is believed that exposure to the Dwarfstones over time caused the growth and gain in intelligence.  Karassalob is very intelligent and loves good food and deals with potential food.  She is known to control Arachnids within several hundred miles of her location at will, travel between worlds using her threads and can spit her poison a significant distance.  There are rumors of other powers, including the ability to access Lachesis and Atropos at will, fate-spinning and possibly a humanish form.  She has encountered many adventuring parties and indulges in long discussions with them.  Her skill in games of the mind are known far and wide and a good riddle or game may get a winner access to the prodigious amount of loot she has acquired.

Ramorge https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/encyclopedia/ramorge/ Wed, 10 Aug 2022 22:21:23 +0000 https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/?post_type=encyclopedia&p=65 The God of Ultimate Evil is part of the Triumvirate and governs all that is evil.  Overseeing this thru agents and followers that infiltrate all the known religions, Ramorge does not have a temple to itself anywhere.  Instead the followers infiltrate other churches and enact varying degrees of evil thru the churches and temples, slowly turning them away from all they stand for.  Ramorge itself appears as a male human roughly 5′ in height with blackish grey hair, blue eyes and of slight build.  There is no specific clothing worn by the God and other than its main weapon, no easily identifiable way to know when you are talking to it.  Its signature weapon is a Worx sword named Betty.  Given the size of a Worx weapon, it is easily identifiable once it appears.  Unfortunately for his foes, its not present until shortly before combat starts.  Ramorge’s followers are everywhere and could be anyone.  Most of the time the followers are easily mistaken as members of other faiths.

Radjan Pantho https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/encyclopedia/radjan-pantho/ Wed, 10 Aug 2022 22:15:55 +0000 https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/?post_type=encyclopedia&p=64 Representing the Aspect of ultimate good, Radjan Pantho is one of the Triumvirate of Power. Three gods that govern the prime aspects of existence.. Radjan represents the qualities that make up everything good and carries forth his duties with a gentle and kind face.  Radjan stands 15′ tall in his natural form which appears as a giant Rahksasha with gold, white and black stripes running his body.  He carries with him a Scimitar known as Gaer’lon or “Judgement” and a spear known as Ma’at or “Justice”.  His followers carry forth his word on all known planes including the Abyss itself and are known for their fair and just rulings.  Only one Great Temple exists now to the God as all the rest were destroyed during a prolonged war with the Darkness Beyond.  The Last Bastion of Faith, as it is called, sits on an island with three rivers running around it.  Inside is housed the Grand Library and the Hall of Judgement.

Weyr Stone https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/encyclopedia/weyr-stone/ Wed, 10 Aug 2022 22:07:52 +0000 https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/?post_type=encyclopedia&p=63 During the last part of the Reckoning, power was released on an unprecedented scale from the Ascension of the God Ramorge.  As the world twisted and contorted it also absorbed a large amount of that energy in stones deep beneath the ground.  Some of these stones, when collected and processed correctly, can form a Weyr Stone. These stones can create a link between themselves and previously prepared locations, thus allowing travel between them. Sadly the Weyr Stone has to stay where it was used and cannot be brought with.  Several locations are linked in such a way that a permanent stone is in place to facilitate constant shipping and travel.  There is no known limit to the range of the stones as some have been tested between the planes themselves and worked effectively.

One cautionary note though.  While these stones represent an incredible amount of power, they are also rumored to corrupt users who spend to much time with them as the Dark Ones voice speaks to them and corrupts them until they are used up.  The magic can be extracted but at a terrible cost, requiring at least five thousand souls to absorb the energy that must then be harvested in a secondary ritual prior to the souls exploding from the sheer force of the transfer.  This ritual has been done once successfully.  The results walk the land.

They marched across it and destoyed all they found. The war came to a crux in the City of Splitship where an adventuring party turned the tide against the elves. While the war was won, many millions of lives were lost and many adventurer’s fell.

Silverbane https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/encyclopedia/silverbane/ Wed, 16 Oct 2019 22:54:26 +0000 https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/?post_type=encyclopedia&p=40 The Ascendant Noble House Silvberbane is one of the weakest of the Ascendant Houses. It has a small amount of members in it and very few left who bear the Silverbane name. Many of the new members of the house are adopted members and do not carry the bloodline powers of the House.

The Silverbanes are best known for their musical aptitudes and are influential in the bardic circles as well as in all forms of entertainment. They sponsor innumerable gleemen and other entertainers and have been responsible for the spread of knowledge across many lands. It is said that a Silverbane can speak a word in one plane of existence and spark a new song in another.

Scrolls of Destruction https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/encyclopedia/scrolls-of-destruction/ Wed, 16 Oct 2019 22:51:16 +0000 https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/?post_type=encyclopedia&p=39 This is one incredibly long scroll with no known end. Each line can be read but once and once read will do whatever the line said. The lines are said to proclaim the death of all things one at a time and in the order that the god Ramorge dictated during the Uprising of Gods. The Silverbane family is the only known bloodline that can read the scroll without enacting the destruction of whatever line they are reading.  The scroll has been stolen several times and several random lines have been read, resulting in the loss of unknown things as once destroyed the thing destroyed cannot even be remembered. This occurs similar to Balefire or Hellfire based magics, with erasure being guaranteed.

Garn https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/encyclopedia/garn/ Wed, 16 Oct 2019 22:34:49 +0000 https://blackblade.fatalshade.net/?post_type=encyclopedia&p=37 Garn the Hyena (877 – Unknown) Garn is known for his unending loyalty and his myriad abilities. His closest and best friend Blue died a horrible and tragic death. Garn moved the lands in his attempt to bring Blue back, raising armies and declaring war on any who stood in his way.  Garn would eventually get Blue to return to the land of the living after a significant amount of time. Garn then got involved with the church of Liera and helped the church to survive many assaults in the city of Splitship as well as made friends with their high priest Granite.

Garn was highly active during the Rise of the Western Elves and the opening of the Elf-gates and instrumental in stopping their sieges, including saving Splitship and several churches. All to save Blue.
